Big South Announces Softball Players of the Week
Presbyterian infielder Megan Anderson (Lexington, S.C.) has been selected as the Big South Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Coastal Carolina’s Ashley Guillette (Oxford, Conn.) has been named The Crons Brand Pitcher of the Week for games played April 4-10, it was announced today by the conference office.
Anderson shone in the Blue Hose’s five games last week against Gardner-Webb and Liberty as the freshman went 7-for-15 (.467) at the plate and tallied a hit in four of the five games. In PC’s 4-0 win over Gardner-Webb on Wednesday, she went 3-for-3, including a double in addition to a walk and three RBI. Anderson continued to impress in the final two games of the series against Liberty as she went 3-for-7 with two home runs, six RBI and two runs scored.
Guillette went 2-0 in the circle for the Chanticleers last week with an ERA of 1.05. In the second game of Coastal’s doubleheader against College of Charleston, she threw a complete game with 11 strikeouts and surrendered just two runs to lead the Chanticleers to a 7-2 victory. The freshman claimed her second win of the week against Winthrop on Saturday as she tossed another complete game, with just one run and seven strikeouts.
