Our guy is Number 1
Clinton High's Koko Richey (33) has the nation's top play, according to hudl.
Richey took a twice tipped pass to the house, 66 yards against Broome - one of 3 Richey touchdowns in the Red Devils' 28-21 win Oct. 22 at Wilder Stadium. hudl is an on-line way for high school football programs to "share film" - and it gives players all over the country the chance to look in at what other players are doing.
Here's the clip - wide shot and close up - of Richey's "immaculate reception":
ALSO, CHS Athletics Director Nickie Templeton gives this Red Devils update:
Good morning! I just wanted to send a few updates from the CHS Athletic Department so that everyone is aware of all of the amazing things our Red Devils have accomplished so far this year! We are off to a great week after our varsity football team pulled off an amazing victory over Broome this past Friday night. Great job to Andrew Webb and his staff for working hard and diligently to prepare our team to play and organize such an amazing event with the veteran's night festivities!! If you ordered a veteran's day t-shirt and have not received your shirt, please email me so that I can get that to you. Thank you Laurie Addison for your efforts in assisting the CHS Athletic Department and the CHS Bass Fishing Team with t-shirt sales.
Everyone is invited to the cross country meet today at CHS vs. Laurens! The senior recognition will begin at 5:00 at the inflatable finish line on the practice field near the CHS track, and the girls meet should start around 5:10. The Girls On the Run youth organization will run our course starting at 4:30. The youth running program is a phenomenal organization, and I'd like to recognize Lee Atkinson and Paige Drisgula for all of their efforts with involving the youth and sparking an interest for running and fitness. Come on out and support our runners!!
Congratulations to Volleyball and Tennis! Tennis and Volleyball finished 2nd in the region. They will host the first round of playoffs tomorrow, and both teams will compete against Fairfield Central... Tennis will start at 5:30 and Volleyball will start at 6:00. Staggering the times will hopefully make it easier for everyone to see a little of both! Our volleyball and tennis programs have worked hard this season, and we would love to have your support by attending the events tomorrow. Volleyball admission is $5 for adults and students, and the only pass that is accepted is the South Carolina High School League Pass. Senior passes, faculty ID's, season passes, and all season passes are NOT accepted for playoff games. This is set by the SC High School League.
This Thursday 8th Grade Football will play their final home game of the season at Wilder Stadium, and kickoff is at 5:00! Additionally, 8th grade football will play at Southside Christian on 11/3 as a make up game. 7th Grade football will finish up their season on 11/2 at Chapman! The JV Football team will wrap up their season this Thursday 10/27 at Woodruff at 6:00... Come on out and support our Red Devils.
Congratulations to Andrew Young and our CHS Band as they competed in their competition this past Saturday finishing 13th out of 19 bands. Andrew is pleased with the success of our band this year, and the athletic department commends all that he is doing for the CHS Band and athletics. Great job!
Congratulations to Brooke Miller and her middle school volleyball team as they were conference champions and conference tournament champions. They finished the year undefeated, and we are certainly proud of their hard work and success! Way to go!!
Congratulations to Grace Waldron in being selected to play in the North/South Tennis match! Tennis all-region/all-state nominees will be reported at a later date. Please congratulate Grace when you see her. Additionally, congratulations to Alexis Pagano, Brooke Tallman, and Corey Nichols. They are All-Region selections for Volleyball, and Brooke Tallman was also selected as a member of the All-State Volleyball Team.
CHANGE IN SCHEDULE: The CHS Varsity football game vs. Woodruff was changed to 11/4. The game was originally scheduled for this Friday at home, but the SCHSL pushed the schedule back due to the effects of Hurricane Matthew. Woodruff and Clinton agreed to move the game, so we will kickoff at Clinton on 11/4 at 7:30. This is the last regular season game, and we hope to see you there!
As always, thank you so much for supporting CHS Athletics! Go Big Red.
