Down by 18, lose in OT
Presbyterian College men's basketball team clawed back from 18 points down - 43-25 with 17:48 left to play - to force overtime and then lost 69-66 at Gardner-Webb Saturday. This was the 5th game in the last 6 for the Blue Hose decided by 4 points or less.
DeSean Murray led PC with 24 points. Will Adams hit a 3-pt shot with 1.8 seconds to play to force overtime. It was 37-22 G-W at the half as the Bulldogs scored the final 5 pts of the first half. An 8-0 PC run cut the lead to 66-55 with 44 seconds left, and the Blue Hose just kept coming. Baskets by Austin Venable and Murray gave PC a 66-61 lead with 2:30 to play in OT. G-W's Isaiah Ivey hit a 3-pt shot to win the game.
PC committed 15 first half turnovers and 5 in the second half. The men are 8-15 overall, 3-9 in Big South play.
PC women's basketball was upset 61-47 at High Point Saturday. Defensively, the Blue Hose was stellar, but the offense faltered. Janie Miles scored 11 points for the Blue Hose, and Alanna Kelly added 10. Allie Wagner scored the first 5 points of the 2nd quarter for PC with HP leading 22-14. HP led 29-21 at the half. High Point hit s 7-0 run in the 3rd quarter, and a 10-3 run to start the 4th quarter.
PC forced 29 turnovers and swiped the ball 14 times, with a 22-10 advantage in points off turnovers. PC women are 13-9 overall, 9-4 in the Big South.
