DeSean on the move
PC’s DeSean Murray to Transfer
Presbyterian College and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Gregg Nibert has announced that sophomore forward DeSean Murray (Stanley, N.C.), will transfer at the conclusion of the spring semester.
“Today I am announcing that I will not be returning to Presbyterian College for my junior year,” said Murray. "This is a difficult decision that I have reached after speaking with my family and others close to me, and it is based on my desire to pursue a bigger conference, a bigger school, so that I can work to play at the next level.”
“I appreciate Presbyterian College giving me the chance to play at the Division I level, and it is something that I will never forget. My two years at Presbyterian have been an incredible experience.”
“We wish him the absolute best,” said Coach Nibert. “If we can help him in any way down the road we’ll be happy to do so.”
"While disappointed that DeSean (Murray) is transferring, I understand he wants to play at the next level and a larger conference gives him a better opportunity to do that,” said PC Director of Athletics Brian Reese. “We all wish him well in his future endeavors and appreciate what he brought to PC and the men’s basketball program the last two seasons.”
In two seasons at PC, Murray averaged 18.4 points per game, amassing 940 points in just 51 games. He led the team this year in scoring (20.2), rebounding (7.4), free throws (.773), and steals (2.0) as a sophomore. The 2014-15 Big South Freshman of the Year, earned First Team-All-Conference honors this past season, after leading the league in scoring for most of it. In 2015-16, he recorded 18 20-point games, with seven double-doubles. A starter in all 51 games, he averaged 30.6 minutes a game.
