LETTER: Spend Money, Or Stop Collecting
My wife and I eat at Clinton restaurants many times every week. Every time we eat at a restaurant within the Clinton city limits, we pay a 2% hospitality tax.
As I recall, this money was to be used to construct a baseball complex. At this time, very little information about the status of the complex has been made known to the public. From what I read, city council always finds other projects on which to concentrate.
There are many people who question why the tax is still being collected, if there are no plans to use it. Why are the complex plans neglected? Could it be that no one on city council has any involvement with youth baseball? Who on city council has any knowledge of the current status of youth baseball?
My grandsons have played in tournaments in Iva and Due West. How can these towns have a complex? Either build it, or stop taking my money. At least council should let those of use who are contributing to the hospitality tax be kept up to date.
