I am writing to express concern and to protest the explosion of industrialized chicken complexes that are proposed to be built on Lisbon Road.
My house and land has been in my family for 100 years, and I have always found great joy in riding my horses, walking my dogs, and generally enjoying the tranquility of this neighborhood.
That is until the onslaught of industrialized chicken "farming.” In a 3-mile area of my home, I have five operational chicken complexes.
I do believe that future studies will show that living in such close proximity of industrialized chicken complexes will have negative impacts on the health of the residents.
Why should the residents of Lisbon Road take the brunt of the ugly and unhealthful aspect of this industrialized "farming?” Why should we suffer
from poor air quality, sinus and lung issues, and other illness?
Property located near industrialized chicken facilities is devalued at 40-60 percent.
Think of the waste that will be produced if these additional complexes are built. The water, air, the environment, the wildlife, will all be impacted.
Lawsuits have been filed in three separate states against poultry facilities because of manure runoff in waterways.
Therefore, I am, and will continue to protest the building of the additional poultry houses on Lisbon Road.
My health, my enjoyment of my home and land are being compromised.
We do not want, not do we need, additional industrialized poultry houses.
