Blue Hose Place Four on All-Conference Team

The Big South Conference announced Tuesday the 2016 All-Conference Team and the Presbyterian College softball team placed four on the list.  Kelsie Sanchez (Clearwater, Fla.) earned First-Team honors, while Erin Ruff (Chardon, Ohio) and Megan Anderson (Lexington, S.C.) were named to the second team.  Sydney Seigler (North Augusta, S.C.) was named to the Honorable Mention team as well.  Ruff was named to the All-Academic team, while Anderson earned a spot on the All-Freshman team.

Sanchez is second on the team in batting average (.331), third in slugging pct. (.585), on base pct. (.367), runs, hits (43) and RBI (21).  Her 12 doubles is tops on the team and her seven home runs are third, as well as her 76 total bases.  The junior is top 15 in the league in batting, 10th in slugging pct., and third in doubles.  Her season highs include four runs, a PC record, and three hits against Albany and two doubles at CSU.

Ruff is third on the team in batting average (.322), fourth in slugging pct. (.467), second in slugging pct. (.405), runs (27), and hits (49), and fifth in RBI (15).  She is top 20 in the league in batting, and eighth in stolen bases.  Her season highs include three hits and five total bases against Radford and four RBI against Albany.  The senior recorded 16 multiple hit games and currently riding a nine-game reached base streak.

Anderson leads the team in batting average (.350), slugging pct. (.594), on base pct. (.426), hits (50) and RBI (39).  She is second in total bases (85) and home runs (9).   The freshman is seventh in the league in batting, eighth in slugging pct., 10th in on base pct., sixth in RBI, and ninth in total bases.  Anderson is ninth in PC’s season record book in BA and hits, fourth in slugging pct. And home runs, and second in RBI.  She recorded 12 multiple RBI games.

Seigler leads the team innings pitched (160.2), strikeouts (97), appearances (31), carries a 3.44 ERA, and is third in opponent batting average (.275).  The senior is eighth in the league in pitching, fifth in innings pitched, ninth in strikeouts, and sixth in starts.  Her season-highs include a career-best 10 strikeouts against Gardner-Webb, a PC record.

PC enters the Big South Tournament as the #6 Seed and takes on #3 Coastal Carolina at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 11.  The tournament runs May 11-14, in Rock Hill.
