Presbyterian College baseball won two of the three games played this weekend against LaSalle, in an action-packing transition weekend for the Blue Hose. Basketball is winding down - PC women's basketball is the #5 seed in this week's Big South Conference Tournament - and spring sports are starting to hit their stride.
Blue Hose baseball won 10-3 on Sunday and 6-0 on Saturday at home against LaSalle. The Blue Hose lost 6-3 on Friday.
Sunday, PC got 10 runs on 8 hits and 6 LaSalle errors. Cletis Avery went 2-3, HR, walk, two runs scored, two RBIs. Hunter Kyzer was the winning pitcher. Saturday, Brian Kehner got the win, throwing 7 scoreless innings allowing two hits and striking out 10. Kehner is 3-0 on the season with a .47 ERA. Jacob Midkiff went 2-4, 3 RBIs. Friday, PC loaded the bases with two outs in the 9th inning but could not win the game. Midkiff hit a double with two RBIs, Peter Johnson went 2-4.
In women's basketball, the Blue Hose won their final regular season game, 57-49, at Liberty. PC is 17-12, 13-7 in the Big South and opens tournament play against Gardner-Webb. Cortney Storey scored 15 points, Allie Wagner added 13.
In men's basketball, the Blue Hose lost in the 2nd round of the Big South Tournament, 67-53, to #2 seed Winthrop. DeSean Murray scored 24 points. UNC-Asheville beat Winthrop for the tournament title.
PC softball won twice Sunday in the USC Upstate Tournament - 2-1 over SIU-Evansville and 5-1 over Elon. The Blue Hose, 9-8, are at home for the first time this season at 3 pm Wednesday against SC State.
PC lacrosse lost 10-9 in 2OT at home against Stetson. Megan Dreyer led the Blue Hose with 4 goals.
