New County administrator interviews
Laurens County Council will gather at noon Tuesday in the historic courthouse in downtown Laurens, and a member will call for an executive session. Council will vote itself into the closed-to-the-public session (sanctioned by the SC Freedom of Information Act for the discussion of employment matters), and until 5:30 pm, members will interview finalists for the position of County Administrator.
The current administrator Ernie Segars retires next month. He has told council he will be available for counsel during the new administrator's transition time. A report said council plans to interview 7 people on Tuesday.
At the 5:30 pm meeting, open to the public, council will give 3rd and final reading with a public hearing to an ordinance exchanging property (parking lots) with the City of Laurens, will give 3rd and final reading with a public hearing for a fee-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with an industry code-named Project Duo (the company name at this point must be disclosed), will give 1st reading to an ordinance establishing ingress and egress to a property to the Laurens Commission of Public Works, and will adopt by resolution an amended FILOT for Faurecia Interior Systems.
Segars will give an Administrator's Report. People attending the meeting - who registered before the meeting starts - can address the council beginning at about 6:30 pm. Public comments time lasts 15 minutes, no more than 5 minutes per topic. Council members will have the chance to give comments, the council will have another executive session to discuss the County Administrator position.
The next meetings of Laurens County Council will be March 8 and 22, and April 12.
