Streets Getting Slick

Scene of North Broad Street bump-up

Clinton Department of Public Safety officers are on the scene of a vehicle bump-up in front of their building on North Broad Street. Sleet is falling now (3 pm) and starting to accumulate on cars and buildings. Parking lots, sidewalks and streets are getting slicker.

This wintry mix is part of a widespread storm that is dumping snow in Upstate South Carolina, especially north of I-85, and will bring a blizzard to Washington, DC and the Northeast. Schools are closed today in Laurens County because officials feared exactly what is happening - sleet would start falling at the dismissal of school, and bridges on rural roads will become very treacherous.
