Law Enforcement joins Area 5 Special Olympics victory lap

This morning at Presbyterian College's Bailey Memorial Stadium, law enforcement officers join hundreds of Special Olympians and their sponsors for the Area Five Games victory lap. PC student organizations provide volunteers for manning the events and tabulated results, and for a fun zone at the gate area of the stadium. Religious Life and Services staff members and volunteers sponsor the event on campus.

Volunteers also come from schools in Area 5 - Abbeville, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick and Newberry counties. Whitten Center and the Laurens County Disabilities and Special Needs Board field teams along with District 56 schools in Clinton and Joanna. Winners at the area level can qualify for the South Carolina Special Olympics.

Law enforcement officers from throughout the state will sponsor the Special Olympics Torch Run prior to the state games.

South Carolina Special Olympics - Sunday, April 10, at University of South Carolina Rec Field, noon - registration, 1 pm - competition
