Sexual images of minors alleged
A Laurens man has been arrested and charged by state authorities with sexual exploitation of a minor, 13 counts.
Authorities identified the suspect as Thomas Michael Jones, 40, of 538 Starfrost Road. A search warrant was executed at Jones’ residence on Wednesday; the case was handled by a special investigator of the SC Attorney General’s Office.
A report said eight warrants charge Jones with second degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He is alleged to have distributed, transported, exhibited, receive, sold, purchased, duplicated and/or solicited materials of a visual representation of minors having sex. Sexually explicit nudity also is covered by these alleged crimes. Jones is accused of participating in a file-sharing network on July 10, 17, 24, 30 and 31, and on Aug. 12, 16 and 17 at the residence.
Five warrants allege third degree sexual exploitation of a minor, alleging that Thomas possessed images of minors having sex or nude in a sexually explicit way. These materials were found on a computer at the residence when the search warrant was executed on Aug. 24.
The State Law Enforcement Division made the arrest, a report said. Bond will be set for Thomas today.
