Large limbs are falling on streets around Clinton, wreck hurts one on 56 South

Rain has stopped as the sun has come out this afternoon (1:15 pm), but damaging winds are whipping through Clinton. Public Works crews are out assessing damage and responding to reports.

Clinton Department of Public Safety & Laurens County first responders worked a wreck this afternoon on Hwy 56 South. There was no rain, but the wind was gusty when a pick-up ran off the right side of the road. Entrapment was reported, and one person was transported by the emergency medical service. The narrow highway was down to one lane for a while to accommodate emergency response vehicles, but traffic was not detoured.
