Drugs & guns near school
Six people have been arrested in Laurens and charged with drugs and firearms possession, a report said.
The suspects are identified as:
--26-year-old Andrew June Carter Jr. of 116 Hunter’s Court, Laurens;
--31-year-old Christopher Eugene Franklin of 153 Sherman Drive, Laurens;
--26-year-old Calvin Ladell Hudgens of 99 Persimmon Tree Drive, Laurens;
--26-year-old Lamarcus Rashadd Westfield of 100 Dial Street, Laurens;
--32-year-old Eric Antwan Pinson and 42-year-old Beverly Pinson Reid, both of 318 Wynetta Street, Laurens.
A report said Laurens Police arrested the group Saturday responding to a call at Apt. B, 202 Ashley Lane, Laurens. Marijuana was smelled at the scene, and a report said the people in the apartment did not exit immediately.
A strategic response team arrived, and the suspects began to come out of the apartment.
Suspects were charged with:
--possession of marijuana with intent to distribute;
--distribution of cocaine with criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence;
--possession with intent to distribute marijuana within proximity of a school (Laurens Middle);
--possession of cocaine within proximity of a school.
--possession of weapons (two handguns) and possession of weapons during the commission of a violent crime (cocaine distribution); and
--felon in possession of a weapon (all except Pinson and Reid).
The group is suspected of flushing drugs down a toilet in the apartment. A report said 28 grams of cocaine was found.
Reid’s bond was set at $185,000. Bond was denied for the five male suspects.
