County Legal - New Administrator's Contract

Laurens County Council will have executive session talk about contract and property purchase

Two executive session matters are on the agenda for regular meeting of the Laurens County Council, UPDATE: Caime contract approved, 6-0.

The council has agreed unanimously to offer a contract to Jon Caime, the administrator of Hart County, Ga., to be the next Laurens County Administrator. That proposed contract will be discussed in closed session at the March 22 meeting, along with a contract pertaining to the potential purchase of property. Contracts and personnel matters are allowable reasons for closed session discussions of public bodies under the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act.

Council Chairman Joe Wood said March 16 that Caime would be introduced at Tuesday's meeting as the new administrator.

In other business, the Pledge of Allegiance will be given by Boy Scout Troop #399 of Laurens (Buddy Black, Anthony Crane, Seth Eddy, Alex Freeman, Evan Prince, Edson Stockman, Ben Thomason and William Yates). Council will consider second of three readings to ordinances extending incentives to Project Rain Boots, Faurecia Interior Systems, and purchasing property in the Thompson Road area for a fire substation. By resolution, council will approve SCILIN, LLC as a sponsor affiliate under a fee agreement with ZF Transmissions Gray Court.

Council will receive an administrative report, will receive public comments - registration required prior to start of the meeting - and will have comments from council members. The meeting is at 5:30 pm in the council chambers, second flood of the historic courthouse, downtown Laurens, and is open to the public.

Council meetings the second and fourth Tuesdays each month.

Boy Scout Troop #399 of Laurens will lead the audience Tuesday night at the Laurens County Council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance.
