Sheriff Ricky Chastain has officially announced he will seek a fifth term as Laurens County Sheriff. Chastain will be running in the Republican Primary on June 14.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Laurens County” Chastain said. “My entire law enforcement career has been with the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and even though other employment opportunities presented themselves over the years, I knew the sheriff’s office is where I wanted to stay. My desire has always been to serve the people of Laurens County. This is my home, and the citizens of Laurens County are my neighbors, friends and family. They deserve the best from their sheriff’s office. It belongs to the people and it should always work for the people.”
Chastain, 47, began his career with the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office as a detention deputy 26 years ago. Chastain worked his way through the ranks and was elected by the citizens of Laurens County to be their sheriff for the first time in 2000. He is currently serving his fourth term as sheriff.
