Chamber of Commerce annual meeting Thursday will feature discussion of youth, careers
Tomorrow night, the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce brings An Elegant Evening to Clinton for kick off a new year’s activities. The Chamber annual meeting will begin with a 6 p.m. reception in Harper Center for the Arts, Presbyterian College. The annual meeting dinner and awards presentation will be at 7 in the college’s Mabry Smith Yonce Center, 105 Ashland Ave., Clinton. Featured speaker will be Dr. Almeda Jacks, vice-president for student affairs at Clemson University. Jacks will discuss workforce development and working with young people on their career goals. The Jan. 28 evening’s program will feature Chamber awards and the Duke Energy community service award. Retiring Chamber board members also will be recognized. Presenting sponsors for the annual meeting are Clinton-Newberry Natural Gas Authority, Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission, City of Clinton, Greenville Health System Laurens County Memorial Hospital and PRTC. Platinum sponsor is ZF Transmissions Gray Court. Chairman’s Circle is Presbyterian College, Duke Energy, Arthur State Bank, Founders Federal Credit Union, Laurens County Development Corporation and Laurens County Administration. Silver sponsors are AgSouth, City of Laurens, Laurens Commission of Public Works, Piedmont Technical College and The Palmetto Bank. Admission to the dinner is by ticket only. All sponsorship levels include a table for eight people.
