Tanker-truck spill coats Laurens County roadway with fertilizer

This tanker has spilled 3,000 gallons of fertilizer on a road in Laurens County.

Upstate TV station WYFF reports the spill this morning happened near the Garrett Road - Ora Road intersections. Information about the spill of what officials called “all-natural fertilizer” came from ReWa (Renewable Water Resources).

Officials with ReWa said the truck was a Synagro biosolids tanker. Initial reports were farm sewage was spilled all over the Laurens County roadway.

Synagro handled removing the fertilizer, a report said, and the SC Dept. of Health & Environmental Control was notified. Drinking water and sewer service has not been affected in northern Laurens County. The truck driver was transported for medical treatment.
